On April 13, 2021, the Washington Post reported that the Biden Administration had decided to pull US troops out of Afghanistan after nearly 20 years of fighting, spending 1 Trillions, and losing over 2,312 American lives.
Laszlo Palko is a veteran of two tours in Afghanistan. After his support of he later earned a Master’s Degree in Public Policy from Harvard University, where he also did an internship with the late Senator John McCain’s office. Laszlo now serves as the City Manager for Manassas Park, Virginia, a suburb of Washington DC. In this interview we’ll learn from a real-live veteran of Operation Enduring Freedom about what it was like to be on the ground in Afghanistan, why we were there, and what the impact is of us pulling out after 20 years.
