If you’re like most of my readers, you’re a high-achiever – or well on your way to becoming one. You’re smart, successful, and you’re driven. You want to achieve more at work, but more importantly, you want to win in the game of life. You have a constant hunger to learn, grow, better yourself, and reach your greatest potential. You don’t settle, nor do you take the easy way out. You leave it on the field at work, but you intentionally strive to be great human being as well. You walk your talk (or at least you try to), you take responsibility for your life, and you have high expectations of yourself. As a result, you have vision to leave this world better than you found it.
But, if you’re like me, one of your biggest problems is time. There just seems to be too much to do and too little time to do it. Maybe you can relate with this reader:
“I feel so overwhelmed and anxious. Sometimes, when I’m at work I feel like I’m missing something important with my family. When I’m trying to be present with my family and friends, I can hardly resist checking my phone for work, because I always feel like I might miss something important. I feel a constant anxiety about everything I have to get done. Bedtime is the worst, because when I go to bed, the thoughts of everything I have to do tomorrow, or didn’t get done that day, tumble over and over in my head until I’m either terrorized into actually getting up and working (so I can eventually fall asleep), or when I do finally fall asleep, I dream about all this stuff!”
LET’S BE HONEST
- Do you feel like life comes at you faster than you can manage it? Do you feel like it’s difficult to balance work and your personal life?
- Do you feel like it’s difficult to balance work and your personal life? Do you feel like you have had to sacrifice family, relationships, health, and even personal fulfillment?
- Do you feel like you have had to sacrifice family, relationships, health, and even personal fulfillment?
- Do you feel like there is never enough time?
- Do you feel inadequate when you compare your life to those who you believe to have more than you?
- Do you feel inadequate when you compare your life to those who you believe to have more than you? Do you feel like you suffer in silence, and no one truly listens, understands, or even cares about your feelings?

YOU ARE NOT ALONE
I know exactly how you feel. I know what it feels like to be completely in over your head — to have your life (and even your success) outpace your ability to manage it, while still attending to the things that really matter most—family, health, faith, community, and contribution.
For years, I too, have struggled to get off the rat wheel. Too often, my success came at the expense of my health, my sanity, and my most valued relationships.
As a life and business strategist for over 25 years, I have learned the following mathematical reality:
MY TO DO LIST > MY TIME
I have more things to get done than there is time to do them all. I will always have a to-do list. No matter how much I check off my to-do list, there will always be more things to replace them. I also realized that the answer isn’t simply to work faster or trying to get more done.
TRUE PRIORITIES
The answer is to get the right things done right — at the right time.
So, if you’re like me, that means making these things your top priorities – your relationship with God, yourself, your health, your marriage, your family, your friends, and contribution to your world.
MY PURPOSE(S) IN WRITING THIS BLOG
Over the course of 25+ years, 300+ clients, reading well over 1000 books on everything from business to psychology to spirituality – I felt that I had no outlet for sharing a lifetime of research, observation, and personal lessons learned. Through my website, my primary purpose is to channel all that I’ve learned to give you and others the clarity, courage, wisdom, and consistency you need to win—at work and in life. From practical tools to accomplish your goals and dreams, to insights that clarify your purpose, to strategies for personal growth and development, to a clear, conscious path to greater influence and contribution, my goal is to truly empower you to do what matters most.
As a person of high quality, you want more than to simply hear what’s popular and trending now. You have a mind and soul that seeks intelligent, stimulating, out of the box thinking that resonates with you. You want content that gets you to stop, reflect, take action, and make meaningful adjustments in the direction of what you want most. You also don’t have time to digest volumes of information. You want meaningful content delivered to you in a format that is digestible in the time you have.
My larger purpose in hosting this site is to create a community of like-minded individuals that can learn from and sharpen one another, leverage one another’s wisdom, intelligence, ideas, and talents, and genuinely move one another to greater achievement. There is a proverb that says, “Alone we can go fast, but together, we can go far.”
TOPICAL FOCUS OF THE BLOG
TIME and PRODUCTIVITY – Time is our most precious resource. When you give your time, you give a part of your life. That is why I’m so incredibly passionate about researching and presenting productivity strategies, tools, and techniques to make the most of the time we have, and focus on the important things. In this blog, I share my own secrets of time management, which have been a cornerstone of my own success.
LEADERSHIP – Most people don’t want to lead. Personally, I need to lead. Not for my ego, but because it is where I’m at my best. It’s the one thing that is needed in every group we’re a part of whether that group is your family, a church, a town, a govt agency, or a multi-national Fortune 500 company. I’ve spent the last 25 years studying how it’s done. I’m completely fascinated with what makes great leaders great and what makes bad leaders bad. In this blog, I share what I’ve learned.
PEOPLE – People fascinate me even more than leadership does. I have made an equal study of why people do the things they do. As a former entertainer, minister, and consultant to US Special Operations, I’ve learned fascinating things about human nature, how to communicate effectively, and most importantly how to influence and motivate others. In this blog, I share some of those secrets and insights.
FAMILY – Your marriage and your family is one of the most accurate indicators of the quality of your personal life. It also helps shape and define who you become while you directly impact those closest to you at the same time. I’ve had the privilege of observing and modeling some of the best marriages and families in the world (Hint: you won’t find them in any reality TV show). In this blog, I share some of the most timeless practices that highly successful couples and families employ in their daily lives.
WISDOM – Maya Angelou once said, “When you know better, you do better”. Getting access to knowledge these days isn’t a problem. However, knowledge without wisdom, is like having an advanced digital camera, but ignoring the instructions, and only shooting on the AUTO setting. Your pictures will look amateur-ish, because you don’t understand the fundamentals and wisdom behind photography itself – such as light, composition, and the nuances of different subjects and environments. Life is the same way, we acquire the instructions to life over time, through experience, and by listening to others who have been around the block. Without wisdom, we may know a lot, but we will lack the maturity to exercise that knowledge in the best way possible. My entire life, I have loved to collect and share timeless and practical wisdom that causes me to think, reflect, and expand beyond where I am. Hopefully, you will find some of the nuggets I share helpful to you as well.
CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT – I am a voracious learner, and a passionate explainer. As you get to know me, you will find I am my highest and greatest self when I’m learning anything to benefit myself and others. I’ve had the amazing good fortune to live an extremely interesting and unique life (personally and professionally) and I’ve learned many lessons about time, people, leadership, family, work, and life that have not been publicized anywhere, and I bring them to light in this blog for your benefit.
THE IMPORTANT THINGS – Making the most of life is focusing intently on the things we are often most tempted to marginalize – our faith, hopes, vision, dreams, goals, [true] priorities, health, well-being, relationships, connection, peace, joy, and love. Don’t let me lose you here. This is not fru-fru stuff. This is actually more serious than we realize. Too often we sacrifice the important things for the urgent things in the moment, yet it’s the important things that give us passion, feed our soul, and make us feel truly fulfilled and at peace with ourselves and our life.
